Curriculum Framework

At Porter Hill Academy of Arts and Sciences, our curriculum unites the timeless rigor of classical education with the insight of modern innovation. By blending the enduring wisdom of the great texts with contemporary educational strategies, we create a learning experience that honors tradition while equipping students for the challenges of today. Every subject is taught through the lens of a biblical worldview, affirming that all truth is God’s truth and that education is an act of discipleship.

Our Approach: Blending the Old with the New

Our custom-designed curriculum draws from the great works of history, literature, philosophy, science, and theology, challenging students to think deeply, communicate with precision, and cultivate a lifelong love of learning. Guided by the classical Trivium, Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric, we build the skills of mastery, analysis, and eloquent expression that prepare students for a lifetime of intellectual and spiritual growth.

The Stages of Learning

Grammar Stage (K–5): Students build a foundation of core knowledge through memorization, rich language, storytelling, Scripture, and hands-on exploration.

Logic Stage (6–8): Students learn to reason well, evaluate arguments, and discern truth from error through formal logic, debate, and deeper engagement with primary sources.

Rhetoric Stage (9–12): Students refine the art of persuasive and gracious communication, expressing truth with clarity, beauty, and conviction through writing, public speaking, and capstone projects.

Classical Foundations

Students engage with the great texts of Western civilization, exploring the ideas of authors, philosophers, scientists, and theologians who have shaped human thought. This foundation nurtures critical thinking, moral virtue, and a love for what is true, good, and beautiful.

Modern Relevance

While rooted in tradition, our curriculum embraces modern tools and methods to prepare students for an interconnected and rapidly changing world. This balanced approach allows us to remain adaptable and innovative without compromising our classical identity.
